Just a quick note. If you use KDE or switch back and forth between environments, and especially if you use and love OpenOffice.org…
DO NOT install the -kde extensions for OO.o.
We noticed that the icons/fonts/backgrounds, etc all look like crap in KDE, and couldn’t figure out why. Some one on a forum suggested (over a year ago) that you install openoffice.org-kde package to make it look more… kde-ish. I checked the pckage manager, and I already had it. I uninstalled, intending to reinstall, and god damned if i open OO.o and it looks NORMAL! not god-aweful horrid.
and this is what it looks like now that I have un-installed the openoffice.org-kde package:

Grrr… just one of the little things not to like about KDE4 🙂
Oh, and another thing that most people complain about with KDE4 is the ‘start menu’ or Application Launcher Menu.
Most people don’t like Kickoff, much like they hate ribon (at least i hate it) in Windows7. Yes, its stupid that the menus don’t pop open like they used to. but you can change that as well…
Right click on the icon. Click ‘Switch to Clasic Menu Style’
boom.done. Quit complaining about KDE4. thanks, drive through.
